Switch Pro Controller Tester and Specs

The Switch Pro Controller is Nintendo’s full-size pad, USB id 057E:2009. On a PC the browser can see buttons and sticks once the OS has the pad. HD rumble and gyro usually stay hidden. Joy-Con are a different product: Joy-Con tester.

Labels are locked to this page’s layout. Change “Button labels” if they do not match the pad in your hands.

Inputs stay in this browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Press any button on the controller. Browsers hide gamepads until you press a button on this tab.

This is how often the browser hands us a new sample. It is not the controller’s USB poll rate. How old the newest sample is when the page draws it. This is not display lag and not in-game lag.

Motion

Gyro, accelerometer, touch position, and battery are not part of the standard Gamepad reading. Chrome and Edge on desktop can request a DualSense or DualShock 4 over WebHID.

Works with

  • Switch and Switch 2 families: native, subject to the console’s own pairing rules.
  • PC: USB is the reliable tester path. Bluetooth works with varying driver quality.
  • Not a native Xbox or PlayStation pad.

Browser support for this controller

Nintendo labels on this page match the standard mapping: B is south. If your browser reports a non-standard mapping, switch labels to numbers and trust the raw indexes. Capture and Home may or may not appear.

Known quirks

  • Gyro aim on Switch does not appear in this tester. Test that in a game.
  • USB wake can require a button press even after the OS has paired the pad.
  • Some third-party “Pro” pads use other vendor ids. They still test; they will not match 057E:2009.

Drift, repair, and warranty notes

Pro Controller sticks are a similar potentiometer family to Joy-Con on many revisions, and they can drift, though the Joy-Con is the pad people mean when they say Nintendo drift. Use the same bands. Nintendo has run repair programs that changed by region and year. Check the current support page for your country before you pay a shop.

Frequently asked questions

Why are A and B backwards compared with Xbox?

On a Switch pad the south button is B. Standard mapping still puts the south button at index 0. Our Nintendo labels follow the printing, not the Xbox letters.

Can I test HD rumble here?

Only as classic dual rumble, and only if the browser exposes an actuator. HD rumble waveforms are not the Gamepad API.
