Xbox One Tester and Specs

Xbox One pads span several hardware revisions. The original, the 2015 firmware update, and the Xbox One S Bluetooth model do not share one product id. The Xbox controller tester runs the live check for all of them.

Labels are locked to this page’s layout. Change “Button labels” if they do not match the pad in your hands.

This is how often the browser hands us a new sample. It is not the controller’s USB poll rate. How old the newest sample is when the page draws it. This is not display lag and not in-game lag.

Up on the plot is up on the stick. The numbers keep the browser’s sign: positive Y is usually down.

Motion

Gyro, accelerometer, touch position, and battery are not part of the standard Gamepad reading. Chrome and Edge on desktop can request a DualSense or DualShock 4 over WebHID.

Works with

Native on Xbox One and, for most titles, Xbox Series consoles. PC support is excellent over USB. Bluetooth depends on the revision: the original Xbox One pad needs a different path than the later S pad. Mac and Android support is best on the later Bluetooth models.

Browser support for this controller

Expect the standard Xbox mapping. If the browser only shows a generic id, use the raw view and the label override. Impulse trigger rumble is a Series feature; One pads rumble in the handles.

Known quirks

  • Early One pads are not Bluetooth. If it will not pair, it may be that revision, not a dead radio.
  • Elite paddles are easy to miss in the standard 17 buttons.
  • A worn micro-USB port on older pads causes disconnects that look like drift. Wiggle the cable during a sample. If the radius only spikes when the cable moves, fix the port.

Drift, repair, and warranty notes

Same 0.06 and 0.12 bands. These pads are old enough that a high radius is unsurprising. Warranty is unlikely. A shop can replace sticks. Sample on USB with the cable held still so a bad port does not contaminate the number.

Frequently asked questions

Which Xbox One revision do I have?

The gamepad id is the practical answer. 02EA is commonly the One S. 02DD is an earlier revision. Bluetooth that pairs from the pad itself means a later model.

Why does my One pad disconnect when I move?

On micro-USB models, the port cracks. If the tester drops the pad only when the cable shifts, replace the cable and then suspect the port.
