Xbox 360 vibration on PC

360 pads are still XInput devices on Windows. The browser can light buttons and, in Chromium, often play dual rumble.

What to check first

Plug in the wired pad or the wireless receiver, open the vibration test, and send a short rumble. If the actuator line says the command was sent and you feel nothing, check the OS rumble slider. If the line says there is no actuator, try Chrome or Edge before you replace motors. Triggers on a 360 pad are analog. Impulse trigger rumble is a later Xbox feature.

  • Receiver pads can sleep until you press a button.
  • Firefox often has no rumble actuator.
  • A face button that never lights is the switch, not the motor.

Confirm the reading on the live tester before you buy parts or change firmware. The number on that page is what your browser actually receives.

A practical next step

Repeat the same test after each change and write the resting radius down. A fix that does not move that number did not fix the sensor. If the offset stays above about 0.12 with your hands off the sticks, plan a module replacement rather than another software pass. Model notes live in the controller library.

Frequently asked questions

Does this page change my controller?

No. GamepadTesters only reads the Gamepad API in your browser. Calibration writes, firmware updates, and stick swaps happen in the maker’s tool or at a repair bench.
